Our profession loses too many talented therapists too soon. After 30 years at the table, I created Beyond the Sequence Pro to share everything massage school never taught you about building a long, rewarding career. This is the work behind the job.
The Career You Love Shouldn't Break You
Studies show that a majority of massage therapists leave the profession within just a few years — worn down by physical strain, burnout, and the demands of work they were never taught to sustain. It doesn't have to be this way. The difference between a career that ends early and one that lasts for decades isn't talent or luck. It's knowing the work behind the job.
There Is Your Job and the Work to Do Your Job
Your job is the massage: the hands-on work your client comes to receive. But there is another kind of work that makes the first one possible — preparing your body, protecting your mechanics, training your strength, recovering well, and tending your spirit. Most practitioners pour everything into the job and neglect the work behind it. That is precisely why so many break down. Beyond the Sequence Pro is a complete series of practical guides devoted to that work — so you can do what you love, for as long as you want to.

30 Years at the Table
Meet Michael
I'm Michael, a Licensed Massage Therapist, educator, and the founder of Optimal Massage, a practice I built from the ground up over three decades. I've worked through my own injuries, trained my body to keep up with the work, and learned what it truly takes to last in this profession. Beyond the Sequence Pro is everything I wish someone had placed in my hands on day one.
